About

One thing led to another and now I’m here.  I have a background in biology.  Much of my writing concerns animals in general and the movement to end the killing of them in our so-called shelters.  I told the story of how I became involved in the No Kill movement in an article called “I was there”Me and two of our dogs.  It is a story about how hope was not welcome in a place of lies, bitterness, death and hate and how, by the force of will and hard work of those who believed in something better, it replaced all of those things.  If you only ever read one of my articles, it should be that one.

I am also an artist and photographer. Life is bigger than fighting meaningless death, and this blog is meant to reflect that.  My intent is for it to serve as a platform for advocacy and a creative outlet.  The world is cruel and crazy and beautiful all at once.  That is my premise.

A college writing professor once told me that I had a real talent for stating the obvious, so that is what I do.

In case you were wondering, the title of this blog is taken from a song by Johnny Clegg and Savuka.
